Ingredients

  • 400 g green beans or French beans washed and trimmed
  • 1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce or tamari
  • 2 tsp sesame seeds plus extra to garnish
  • Salt and freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1 tsp honey
  • ¼ cup toasted slivered almonds
  • Flaky sea salt to finish (optional)

Instructions

  • Heat a large frying pan or wok over high heat. Add the olive oil and sesame oil.
  • Add the green beans, and cook for 2-3 minutes. Toss occasionally, until blistered and lightly charred in spots.
  • Cover with a lid in between tossing to allow them to steam until just tender but still bright green.
  • Remove the lid. Add the soy sauce, sesame seeds, salt and pepper. Toss well then add the honey and cook for a final 30–60 seconds until the beans are glossy and coated in the pan juices.
  • Transfer to a serving platter. Spoon over any pan juices, then finish with toasted slivered almonds, extra sesame seeds and a pinch of flaky sea salt if needed.
