Pasta al Limone

  • 500 g of your favourite pasta linguine, spaghetti, or fettuccine work well
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 2 cloves of fresh garlic crushed or minced
  • The zest and juice of 2 lemons
  • 1 cup of cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons of fresh parsley garnish

Herb Panko Crumb

  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley very finely minced
  • The zest of half a lemon
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste


Prepare the Herb Panko Crumb Topping

  • In a pan or skillet, heat the butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add the panko breadcrumbs and toast them until they turn golden brown, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
  • Stir in the finely chopped parsley and lemon zest. Mixing well to dry it out slightly. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Set aside.

Cook the Pasta

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Set aside a cup of pasta water. Drain and set aside or try to time it so the pasta is ready as the sauce is ready. It comes together very quickly.
  • In a separate saucepan, melt the butter into the olive oil over medium heat. Add the crushed garlic, lemon zest and juice and let it sizzle and become fragrant.
  • Pour in the heavy cream and bring it to a gentle simmer. Add in a dash of pasta water if it becomes too thick. Allow it to simmer for about 2-3 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  • Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and continue to cook, stirring, until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is creamy.
  • Season the sauce with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  • Add the cooked pasta to the lemon cream sauce and toss to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.


  • Divide the Pasta al Limone among serving plates. Top each serving with a generous sprinkling of the herb panko crumb mixture.
  • Serve alongside fresh rocket for an extra burst of flavour and colour, and garnish with parsley
